What Does My Pet Need to be Spayed / Neutered?

What is Required for My Pet to be Spayed / Neutered?

Patients That Are Over the Age Of 6 Years Are Required Pre-Anesthetic Blood Tests.

Pre-Anesthetic or Full Wellness Blood Tests are available to ALL Surgery Patients. The cost for Pre-Anesthetic Blood Tests is $100.00.

For All Surgical Procedures:

  • The patient needs to be healthy, no heart murmur or seizures, or any major health condition. If we have not examined the pet in the last year, we will need to do a pre-surgical exam at an additional cost of $39.99 to ensure the anesthesia is safe for them.
  • Pet must weigh more than four pounds.
  • All patients for anesthesia are required to provide proof of Rabies vaccination (or our cost for the Rabies vaccine is 1 year/$25.75, 3 year/$28.75; this can be done on the day of surgery)
  • Only for Dogs – a negative heartworm test and proof of their heartworm prevention is required. (Or we can do this test in house the day of surgery, the cost is $37.75).
  • We do require a deposit ($50.00) to make the surgery appointment (this deposit is your partial payment toward the total cost of the surgery/dental, you will pay the balance after the surgery/dental at the time of pickup.) This deposit is your promise to come on the day of surgery (If you do not call us or do not show up for your appointment, we will keep your deposit. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask you to contact us at least 48 business hours prior to the appointment).
  • Blood tests are required if patient is over 6 years of age. (CBC and Blood Chemistries)
  • Pet must be less than 10 years old (9 years 9 months ok – not over 10 years) our doctors do not give anesthesia over the age of 10 years.
