My pet is not feeling well, or I have an emergency - what should I do?

Florida Aid to Animals is not a full-service hospital and does not see walk-ins or emergencies. We specialize in keeping the basics of pet healthcare affordable - prevention and routine care. We are like your pet's primary care physician. For emergencies, we suggest an emergency hospital and for sick visits, we suggest a full-service veterinarian in the area.

How much will it cost to spay / neuter my pet?

Please read the entire surgical procedures page for a better idea of our pricing structure, based on weight, age, and known health factors.

What time is surgery pick-up / drop-off?

Surgery drop-off is at 8:00am; please allow up to 30 minutes for surgery check-in.

Surgery pick-up is 3:00pm, unless told earlier by surgery staff.

What vaccinations does my pet need?

There are necessary, "core vaccines" and non-core vaccines based on the individual cat or dog and their lifestyle needs. Our highly-trained veterinary staff will help you decide what is best for your pet. To learn more about feline vaccines, check out the article we wrote here on the blog. To learn more about canine vaccines, read this article. Any questions, please just call us or ask during your exam! We understand vaccines can be confusing, and are happy to help you decide the best preventatives for your pet.

Why does my pet need parasite prevention?

We have a great article that explains how parasite prevention plays a key role in your pet's health. Read it here.

I'm still struggling to afford veterinary care at FATA's already low-prices.. How can I get financial help paying for my pet's basic healthcare needs?

Speak to any manager about our Financial Aid Program, read and sign the Financial Aid Acknowledgement, and fill out the Financial Aid Form online. Qualifications and terms apply; funding is variable and based on need and funds available.

How can I help animals in need?

To help the pet population, the first thing you want to do is make sure your own pets are spayed or neutered and up-to-date on their vaccines and heartworm prevention. Cats and dogs are euthanized every day due to overpopulation and disease in shelters, and being part of the solution is key! Sadly, a great number of the population are low-income or homeless and unable to afford these basic services for their pet; our Financial Aid Program was designed to assist those pets in need of our services at a reduced or covered cost. You can help by donating to our Financial Aid Program by clicking the 'donate' button on this page and make a difference in the lives of pets! We thank you for your generosity and continued support and advocacy for pets!
